Overview:We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Database Performance Engineer with extensive experience in Exadata and Oracle RAC environments. Our ideal candidate will possess exceptional troubleshooting abilities, a deep understanding of Oracle databases, and a passion for optimizing performance.Primary Responsibilities:
Conduct triage and analysis of complex problems on critical systems.
Develop "get well" plans in collaboration with app/dev teams to optimize platform configurations.
Make database systems more approachable and observable for software engineers with varying levels of database expertise.
Collaborate with senior engineers in different technologies and mentor junior resources.
Recommend and implement system standards and automations in partnership with platform engineering and DMAs.
Communicate technical information to technical and managerial stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
Conduct technical sessions and seminars on performance, troubleshooting, and database design best practices.
Education and Experience Required:Associate’s degree and a minimum of 8 years’ RDBMS experience,OR in lieu of a degree,A combined minimum of 10 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 8 years’ RDBMS experienceExpertise in SQL and PL/SQL code troubleshooting and tuning.Proficiency in configuring performance switches and parameters.Strong understanding of Oracle wait events and wait event analysis.Familiarity with Oracle performance analysis tools and utilization of vviews and AWR tables.Experience with Exadata and Oracle RAC.Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to quickly analyze complex issues.Education and Experience Preferred:Bachelor’s degree or higherExperience with common automation tools such as PowerShell, Ansible, Python, and Terraform.DevOps mindset with the ability to think beyond traditional Oracle solutions.Location:Clanton, Alabama, United States of AmericaM&T Bank Corporation is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer, including disabilities and veterans.
