Do you have a discerning eye for art and a love of connecting with people? Can you explain the brilliance behind a brushstroke to anyone? We're looking for a part-time Art Gallery Attendant to join the team at Axiom Contemporary, a gallery in Phoenix specializing in pop art.
The Gig:
You'll be a gallery attendant and sales role; greeting guests, answering questions about our diverse range of artists (we'll train you to be a mini art expert!), and keeping the gallery space looking sharp. Bonus points if you're an artist yourself – sharing your passion is a blast!
We're looking for a personable and knowledgeable individual who can engage visitors in conversations about art and guide them towards finding the perfect piece to add to their collection. (sales are a fun and rewarding part of the job!).
The hours are generally on demand and fluctuate - with flexibility to also accommodate your schedule. Some weeks are full-time adventures (while other members of the team are away to art fairs) and other weeks offer a lighter touch (8-20 hours).
This is your perfect gig if:
You are an art lover (maybe even a maker yourself!) with knowledge of the subject.
You are a skilled communicator with the ability to build rapport and connect with diverse clientele.
You have worked in a sales/promotional role in some other capacity.
You are a freelancer with some open days in your week. Do not expect a full income stream from the job, but note that sales do come with commission.
Our job at Axiom Contemporary is to promote the artists we carry by providing them with a platform and an income. We are a 20 years+ established gallery that does a dozen art fairs a year in all major cities, with close relationships to our artists and communities. We arrived to the developing Phoenix art scene within the last four years and are excited to grow our team and group of collectors in the region.
