Transporter (Driver for Foster Youth)

Children's Hope Foster Family Agency is seeking a Transporter in our Roseville office.

As a frontline representative of Children’s Hope to Children, Nonminor Dependents, Resource Families and state and county Social Services Personnel, a Transporter is to interface professionally, appropriately and safely in accordance with all Company policy and procedures as well as all local, state and federal laws and regulations when rendering our transportation services.

Pay: $16.50/hour

Classification: At-Will, Part-Time, Non-Exempt and Not Eligible for Benefits

Reports to: Transportation Manager

Line of Supervision: Receives supervision from the Transportation Manager or Transportation Supervisor. Transporter has no supervision responsibilities over other employees.

Duties, Responsibilities and Requirements:

Must pass Live Scan and background checks and maintain other required clearances

Be 25 years or older with a minimum of 5 yrs. driving experience; provide an Official DMV driver record with the CA state seal (an official document, not a driving history). Your DMV record must be clear of all reportable information, i.e. convictions having three, seven, or ten year statues of limitations, all department actions, and accidents as required by the CA Vehicle Code 1808.

Must maintain current proof of insurance, a signed INF 1101 form and signed Company Use Policy for Transporting Clients in Company or Personal Vehicles in your Company personnel file

Always operate vehicles safely; always use good judgement; always demonstrate safe driving skills; always obey posted speed limits; always follow hands-free cell phone laws

Regardless of the speed limit, never drive faster than good judgement, weather or road conditions allow

Transport Children and Nonminor Dependents (the “Passengers”) to and from required visits and appointments as assigned by agency staff, county staff, medical professionals or others

Be able to manage and control Passengers under your care

Ensure that Passengers are properly seated and appropriately secured at all times

Maintain courteous and professional behavior, attitude and appearance

Must enjoy working with children and youth and demonstrate excellent communication skills

Be able to work with minimal supervision, follow instructions, be flexible and adapt to change

Demonstrate excellent organizational and time management skills

Assist with monitoring and observing visits when necessary or assigned

Maintain confidentiality, adhere to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)

Keep self, vehicles and transportation/visitation areas clean, professional and presentable at all times

Inspect vehicles before each transport to report safety, general maintenance or noncompliance issues

Accidents, regardless of fault, must be reported to your supervisor immediately, then follow protocol

Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, modified or changed at any time at the Company’s discretion. Changes may be made formally or informally either verbally or in writing

Education, Experience and Training

Complete all required and ongoing new hire paperwork, orientation, training and education

Be able to read and write English

No formal educational requirements; High School Diploma, GED or the equivalent suggested

Have basic math skills, including addition and multiplication

No prior experience required; On the job training provided

Physical Requirements

Sits 70%, stands or walks 30% of the time

Safely lift and carry up to 40 lbs. for a distance of up to 15 feet

Walking indoors and outdoors and traverse uneven ground on occasion

Audibly detect and retrieve messages over the phone

Work Environment

Most Transporter duties are performed outside of the office in a company provide vehicle in Northern California. Transporters may be exposed to moderate to severe weather conditions, loud noises, and odors.

Work Schedule

This position is At-Will, part-time, non-exempt and not eligible for benefits. Required visits and appointments are determined mostly by county Social Services Personnel, Agency Social Workers, Resource Family members, courts, medical professionals or others. Accordingly, the Transportation Manager, Supervisor and/or Assistant Transportation Supervisor generate a master list of weekly transport assignments for Transporters which are subject to change with little or no advanced notice. A typical work week consists of less than six (6) hours per day and (5) five days per week. Although on occasion, a night shift or weekend shift may need to be scheduled. Overtime may be required.
