Come be a part of California history…and get paid for it! Work in the Historic Sonoma Mission, Sonoma Barracks, Vallejo Home, and Petaluma Adobe. This is a part time position that will average approximately 24 to 32 hours per week (Starting pay is $20.29/- Top Step is $23.48/hour).

Senior Park Aides (Seasonal) will conduct educational tours and programs, primarily for 4th grade students; explain and interpret park environments and history; explain rules and regulations to park visitors; open and close park facilities; and help with special events and programs. This is a uniformed position, at the employee's expense. Works with the State Park Interpreter for tours/programs.

Minimum Qualifications:

Either I

One thousand hours of experience in park operations in a class equivalent in level of responsibility to the class of Park Aide (Seasonal).

Or II

One year or 1,920 hours of experience in any one of the following: conducting educational programs, recreational programs, or conducting public service programs. and Education: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade. (Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.)

Knowledge and Abilities:

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of: The operation of park facilities; lead responsibilities; and basic principles of dealing with employees and the public.

Ability to:

Work independently; follow instructions and direction; establish and maintain cooperative relations with the general public and other employees; use tools, supplies, and equipment required by the job; perform varied manual tasks, evaluate problems, and take corrective action; and provide leadership. Ability to plan, organize, and conduct interpretive walks, tours, and programs at a level required for successful job performance; ability to learn and explain park rules.
