Jax Kneppers Associates, (JKA) was founded in 1989 with the goal of being the foremost Construction Consulting firm on the west coast. JKA has a dedicated team of professionals with a wide range of specialized skills that has allowed us to provide solutions to over 3,900 projects which include single family dwellings, multi-family housing, low rise, high rise, commercial, institutional, and industrial buildings. Our services include architecture, building envelope design, forensic engineering, structural engineering, schedule analysis, and cost estimating.

JKA is seeking an Architectural Associate for our office in Walnut Creek, CA. We prefer candidates with drafting experience in architecture and who are familiar with the California Building Codes. Over-qualified candidates and/or licensed professionals are welcome to apply as we have multiple open positions. The ability to wear a hard hat, access crawl spaces and roof tops, and make quick hand sketches is very helpful.

Responsibilities

Produce architectural construction drawings and design drawings in Revit and AutoCad

Maintain firm’s Revit standards and templates

Produce plans and details with accuracy

Prepare construction documents from hand-drawn sketches, photos, or red lines

Research and understand various design materials and methods

Maintain organized production of a construction document set

Field observation as needed

Requirements

Experience in Revit, AutoCad, and/or SketchUp

Experience with graphic and BIM standards

Ability to read blueprints, construction plans, submittals, and other technical documents

Excellent collaborative and communication skills

Ability to work simultaneously on multiple projects

A degree in architecture, engineering, or building sciences is preferred but not required

Minimum 2-5 years’ professional experience

Technical Writing skills are appreciated but not required

Must be detail-oriented

Driver's license and automobile insurance must be in good and current standing
