Position Description:

One (1) Permanent exempt, full-time (40 hours), full year (260 days) position. Exempt employees are considered "at will" and serve at the discretion of the appointing officer. This position is categorically funded with Strong Workforce Program (SWP) funds, an annual fund allocation to CCSF with no expected end in sight. Hours are subject to change after appointment dependent upon grant status.The Employment & Training Specialist III will work under the direction of the Assistant Director for the Strong Workforce Program to focus externally on generating employment/internship opportunities and focus internally on assisting students to obtain paid work experience in their field of study. The employee will serve as a resource to both CCSF staff and students by organizing events, generating employment and internship connections, creating tracking systems, and reporting on outcomes. This position is part of a dynamic CCSF team helping build California's strong workforce while focusing on equity, diversity, and inclusion. CCSF is seeking one Employment and Training Specialist III position to work specifically within Business and/or Entrepreneurship

Job Duties:

1. Analyze local labor market needs and research available employment opportunities within designated industries.2. Develop unsubsidized jobs, employment opportunities, internships, apprenticeships, and other work-based learning experiences for CCSF students seeking to increase their experience while pursuing career education at CCSF.3. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with private and public sector employers, unions, professional organizations and non-government organizations.4. Guide CCSF students to pursue and obtain paid employment in their field of study; assist students to: conduct job search activities, prepare job application materials to meet skill and job expectations, prepare for interviews, and increase job readiness.5. Follow-up with students and document job search activities and placement details.6. Engage with industry and liaise with Deans, Faculty, Centers, and Departments to bring employers to campus in a variety of ways, including industry advisory committees, career days, job fairs, employer showcases, or other networking events for students.7. Compile data and statistical information and reports as required by SWP, Adult Education, and other categorical fund guidelines.8. Work closely with the Employment Development Department, employment service providers, and other private, public, and community agencies to generate and provide job leads to CCSF students.9. Enroll students in Cooperative Work Experience, ensuring college credit for work in their field of study.10. Collaborate with San Franciscos workforce system to identify and refer eligible students to WIOA services and support.11. Perform other job-related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university.Experience:Two (2) years (4000 hours) of experience in workforce development, human resources, recruitment, training or a closely related field.License and Certification:Some positions require possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid California drivers license.Substitution:Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required degree on a year-for-year basis (up to a maximum of two years). Thirty (30) semester units or forty-five (45) quarter units equal one (1) year.Note: College Work Study and Student Lab Aide experience with the District will be considered/applied as qualifying experience per an agreement made between the District and SEIU. This agreement will allow District students to take advantage of employment opportunities.

Desirable Qualifications:

1. Experience in sector-specific workforce development in Business and/or Entrepreneurship.2. Expertise in one or more of the following: job development, job placement, career advising, career/vocational education, job preparation and readiness, employment and training case management.3. Bilingual or multi-lingual.4. Ability to work with a diverse group of people.5. Student-centered, and with a customer service orientation.6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.7. Experience using multiple social media platforms.

Benefits:

1. Additional Days Off with Pay. As stipulated in the appropriate bargaining agreements and board resolutions, Classified employees working full year (260 days/year) work schedules are granted, as paid days off, the days between Christmas and New Years Day, as well as an additional five (5) paid days off during spring break. Eligible school-term-only (STO) employees who are not scheduled to work the designated days between Christmas and New Years Day shall be granted three (3) paid days off to be scheduled by mutual agreements between the employee and supervisor. Eligible school-term-only (STO) employees who are not scheduled to work the days designated as Spring Break will not be paid for these days off.2. New employees hired on or after October 1, 2013 will contribute 2% of salary to the San Francisco Retiree Health Care Trust Fund (RHCTF).

Selection Procedure/Conditions of Employment
