Property Accountant

Description We are seeking a skilled Property Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, specifically within the commercial real estate sector, and possess proficiency in Yardi software. This individual will be responsible for managing financial activities related to our commercial properties, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficient financial operations.Key Responsibilities:Financial Management:

Lead and oversee all aspects of commercial property accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger management, budgeting, financial analysis, and reporting.

Prepare and analyze financial statements, budgets, and forecasts for multiple commercial properties.

Monitor cash flow, financial performance, and variances, providing insights and recommendations to optimize profitability.

Coordinate with property managers and leasing teams to ensure accurate and timely recording of transactions and financial data.

Team Leadership and Development:

Provide mentorship, guidance, and support to accounting staff, fostering a culture of collaboration, learning, and professional growth.

Lead by example, promoting a positive and inclusive work environment that values integrity, accountability, and excellence.

Provide strategic guidance and financial insights to senior management, supporting decision-making and long-term planning initiatives.

Compliance and Reporting:

Ensure compliance with GAAP standards, industry regulations, and company policies.

Prepare and submit required financial reports, tax filings, and other compliance documentation.

Assist in financial audits and provide necessary support and documentation to auditors.

Process Improvement:

Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, improve efficiency, and enhance financial controls.

Implement best practices and standard operating procedures to optimize workflow and accuracy.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address operational challenges and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or advanced degree preferred.

Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in commercial property accounting.

Proficiency in Yardi software is essential.

Strong understanding of GAAP principles, financial analysis, and reporting requirements.

Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and communicate insights effectively.

Detail-oriented, organized, and able to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and communicate with stakeholders at all levels.
