Job Title: Linguist
Reports to: Hawaii Language Bank Manager
Summary: This is an Independent Contractor position with Pacific Gateway Center (PGC) that supports the Hawaii Language Bank’s needs for interpretation and translation services.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Translate information between two or more languages
Interpret information between two or more languages.
Have availability to accept appointments, either virtually or in-person.
Understanding job or client specifications and completing all language translations, interpretations, analyses, and research accordingly.
Analyzing documents and texts and translating complex information into simple language.
Attending trainings to expand and certify your proficiency.
REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS:
Linguists should have an interest in people of other cultures and be able to relate to them.
Proficiency in two or more languages.
Superb language fluency.
Excellent organization, communication, and active listening skills.
A passion for language and lifelong learning.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS:
Bachelor’s Degree in linguistics or related discipline.
Additional language courses or certifications
