Mobile Catering Company looking to hire a Dinner cook for 2024 Fire Season

Must have or be able to get ServSafe Certificate

Position available May 2024.

This is full time, summer position.

We go on call on June 1st and are on call until October 15th.

Must be willing and able to leave within 2 hours of fire call. Can get the call any time of the day or night.

Must be willing and able to be away from home for up to 2 months at a time.

Supervisory skills are required.

Must use and follow company prep guides and recipes.

Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds and be on your feet for 8-12 hours a day.

HEAD COOK-JOB DESCRIPTION

Job description:

Head Cook is responsible for all food production areas for mobile kitchen. Service is provided for 200 to 1500 Forest Service personnel.

Some essential functions are:

Ensuring daily efficient operation of their shift using professional knowledge and administrative policies and guidelines.

Demonstrates an ability to create an environment of mutual trust, respect and effective two-way communication.

Monitors and addresses staff concerns and continually builds team spirit.

Maximizes resources.

Promotes Company code of conduct by acting as an example and in every respect a model.

Demonstrates and ability to ensure appropriate food quality and quantity.

Provides effective communication in verbal and written forms with Unit Manager to meet company goals and objectives.

Past skill must include training new team members to follow recipes and quantity food production methods following sanitary/safe food guidelines.

Candidate must be a team player and demonstrate working knowledge of quantity food preparation

This position requires someone to be able to adapt to new situations in the field as required i.e.: menu substitutions, isolated locations, crowded condition. 12-hour shift work is predominant. Must be able to work effectively with other disciplines and diverse populations. Be willing to work in unfamiliar areas of the country on short notice for extended periods of time-most fire crews are located in wilderness areas. Head Cook may be required to drive company vehicle to job sites. Other duties may include but are not limited to: setting up tents, tables and chairs, organizing, sorting, and setting up kitchen for transportation to and from sites or duties as requested. Housing, meals and transportation are provided to, from and on each work site. The busy season is between May 1 and October 31.

Job Requirements:

Current Serve-Safe certificate. We will help you get one if you already have.

Candidates will be required to submit to back ground check
