Maine academic book publisher is seeking an experienced freelance indexer to index final galleys of academic books in the field of education. Myers Education Press (www.myersedpress.com) publishes library books and textbooks for colleges of education in the United States and around the world. Our rapid growth requires us to expand our roster of freelancers as we add new books to our front list.
Qualified candidates should have experience in indexing book-length projects with larger page counts (chapter- or book-length works). Familiarity with standard indexing practices expected. We will provide a PDF of final galleys for each project; you should return a completed index in MS Word. Typical assignments should be completed in two weeks from date of receipt of the galleys.
This is a remote freelance position, so there is no requirement to come to our office.
Our rate of pay is $1.50 per indexable book page. Assignments range from 100-500 pages. Interested candidates should submit a resume and cover letter to the craigslist reply button. Qualified candidates will be invited to take a short indexing test to determine suitability.
