Position Overview: This candidate will be working in the quality department for a local flavor company. The company makes the flavoring for a variety of different coffee and tea products, as well as flavorings for other common beverages. They will be tasked with completing wet bench testing for incoming raw materials (pH, viscosity, bricks, density, titrations, etc.). They will also perform tests on finished goods and will work closely with production to perform package inspections, perform routine quality checks around the facility, and sign off before products are distributed.Responsibilities and Tasks: Perform daily testing of all raw materials, intermediates, and finished products. Ensure that the products are tested in accordance with established SOPs. Responsible for assuring product conformance to specifications Product testing includes: sensory, refractive index, brix, pH, turbidity, HPLC/GC, particle size testing, colorimetry, viscosity, density, water activity, manual titration, and other testing as assigned Able to analyze data and produce detailed reports noting relevant specification information Able to take microbial samples and maintain a sterile/clean environment throughout the process. Responsible for sampling incoming raw materials for analysis, including lifting 50lbs repeatedly. Perform daily testing of all raw materials, intermediates, and finished products. Ensure that the products are tested in accordance with established SOPs and within specification Responsible for creating COAs, preparing micro samples, calibrating laboratory equipment, and maintaining production and quality records to ensure compliance File raw material / finished product retains and records Exhibit professional appearance and demeanor while maintaining a safe, neat, and clean environmentAdditional Skills & Qualifications:Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor of Science in a related field such as Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, or Food Science. 6 months - 1 year of prior lab experience is heavily preferred. Previous flavor industry experience.Requirements: Highschool Diploma or General Education Degree with 2-5 years of Inspection and/or Manufacturing Experience. Experience with HACCP, FSP, ISO 22000, SQF, BRC, or equivalent Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) criteria. Experience with QC related instruments such as pH meters, refractometer, densitometer, colorimeter, GC, water activity meter, and turbidimeter. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.). Demonstrate the ability to analyze and interpret information. Excellent organization skills. Note: This is a Day Shift position (12-hour rotating schedule) Job Responsibilities: Develop and maintain a high performing team of Aseptic Control Team Leads and Technicians Trained and able to perform all Environmental Monitoring (EM) technician responsibilities (including maintaining aseptic qualification) when needed. Accountable for the completion of Monthly and annual trending, EMPQs and related document updates, deviations and investigations related to environmental monitoring process, and the review and approval of completed production and laboratory documentation (for example: log books) for quality, completeness, and cGMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) compliance. Train others on procedures, and/or processes. Answer compliance and process questions from others, including regulatory agencies. Communicate policies and procedures to employees. Gather, organize, and communicate operational information to others. Lead process improvement activities and teams to meet strategic goals. Communicate priorities and progress to team on a continuing basis. Ensure that employees have the tools needed to perform their jobs safely. Monitor training of employees to ensure compliance. Other duties that support Environmental Monitoring, Operations, or Laboratory processes as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Significant experience in production or quality control environment. Working knowledge of Microsoft applications and other computerized systems Knowledge of cGMPs and global regulatory policies/procedures Basic knowledge of physical, chemical, and microbiological tests in Quality Control Basic knowledge of sterile room techniques, chemical handling and usage Ability to schedule and direct the work of others Ability to work effectively in a team environment Candidate should possess the ability to work in a changing/demanding environment Strong communication and leadership skills.
