POSITION AND ORGANIZATION INFO:

HOC’s Operations Assistant aides in the daily maintenance and operations management of Heart of Oregon Corps’ programs. The role of the Operations Assistant is to provide support for logistics, purchasing, basic maintenance, risk management, clerical, and occasionally corps members. The position will support staff with HOC facilities and vehicles including the regular maintenance and safety, and monthly inspections consistent with OSHA regulations. This position will assist with logistical coordination and program purchasing, preparing for projects and events, and ensuring necessary supplies are in stock for programs across all HOC locations. The Operations Assistant will assist with tool and equipment inventory, replacement of tools, tool maintenance and/or logistics for taking tools in for repairs at approved vendor locations. The position will regularly drive a variety of HOC vehicles, including vehicles towing trailers (experience towing trailers preferred, but training can be provided).

Located primarily in Bend, OR, but will need to drive a HOC vehicle to other HOC facilities located in Sisters, Redmond, Madras, and Prineville (as assigned). This position is supervised by the Deputy Director and must collaborate closely with program managers and directors to support the daily operations for the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Our ideal candidate will be able to problem solve, identify priorities, have some knowledge of tools and tool maintenance, building maintenance, vehicle maintenance, operate under tight timelines, think strategically, and follow directions. Applicants should have a minimum of a high school diploma or its equivalency, and a valid Driver’s License. At least one year of office, business, or program experience, which includes logistics and maintenance. Bilingual (Spanish) skills preferred. We are looking for an individual who has the ability to work in a fast-paced often-changing environment, knowledge of maintenance is preferred but HOC can train these skills, however you must be willing to get your hands dirty. We are also looking for candidates with an attention to detail and an ability to complete tasks in a timely and accurate manner. Professionalism and reliability are required. A positive attitude, collaborative approach, and good sense of humor is appreciated.

BENEFITS:

Starting wage for this position is $21.00. This is a full-time, year-round, hourly staff position, with employee health, dental and vision benefits paid 100% by the employer. Time off is generous, with 12 paid holidays (which includes 6 days while the offices are closed over the winter holidays), plus paid vacation starting at 80 hours and 40 hours paid sick time/year. Vacation leave benefits increase after 1 year of service.
