This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment. You will contribute to the department by providing support by assisting in the analysis and interpretation of tax regulations and will assist in the preparation of required tax reports so that the university meets its tax obligations and objectives.

Your core responsibilities will include:Support tax accounting team in execution of tax processes, in accordance with current legislation and within pre-established deadlines and guidelines with regular supervision of management or senior level tax accountantsStay abreast of current tax legislation and research federal, state, and local tax-related issues, as needed.Assist in the preparation and filing of federal, state, county, and local tax returnsAssist with compliance in the following areas: unrelated business incomes, state escheatment, non-employee payments, parking tax, sales tax, amusement tax, worker classification review, and quarterly and annual review of Form 1099s/W-9s/TIN matching complianceAssist the Accounts Payable team as neededMaintain tax information and recordsOther duties as assignedFlexibility, excellence, and passion are vital qualities within the Finance Division. Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or related required1-3 years of tax accounting experience requiredA combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be consideredAdditional Information:Work Posture: This position is operating on a hybrid schedule, with an on-campus/in office presence two days a week.Sponsorship: Applicants for this position must be currently legally authorized to work for CMU in the United States.
