JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:Student Laboratory AssistantHuck Institute - CSL Behring Fermentation FacilityPosition Overview:Responsibilities in this position will include being involved in bioprocessing activities including fermentation, separation process (cell lysis, centrifugation, filtration), purification of bio-based products, and performing analytical procedures.Job Description and Requirements:
In this position the student researcher will be trained on equipment, processes, techniques, and fundamental principles of microbial fermentation and bioprocessing.
This position will involve training on equipment to help setup and run fermentation equipment, perform routine calibrations and validations, and additional laboratory work.
Will be trained on how to use and interpret analytical equipment and results (including liquid chromatography).
Training for use of downstream processes (centrifugation, cell disruption, freeze drying, tangential flow filtration, etc.)
Will be required to go through Penn State Laboratory safety training via PSU-EHS.
Preferred Skills:
General laboratory experience (Chemistry or Biology Lab courses)
Use of basic computer software such as Microsoft Office programs
