DUTIES: Provide design engineering staff augmentation support to SRNS. Primary responsibilities include engineering analysis, construction support, walkdowns, design development and generation of design output documents including but not limited to: Single Line Drawings; Electrical Equipment Lists; Control System Design; Control Schematics and Connection Diagrams; Electrical Equipment Specifications; Bulk Material Specifications; Circuit/Raceway/Wiring/Connection Design; Grounding; Heat Tracing; Fire Detection; Short Circuit Calculations; Arc Flash Incident Energy Analysis; Load Flow Analysis; and Electrical System Sizing Calculations. Engineering services shall be provided using SRNS processes and procedures. Programmatic guidance will be provided by SRNS. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS BS Degree in Electrical Engineering or current registration as a Professional Engineer in Electrical Engineering. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Candidate must demonstrate ten years of design experience (within the last 15 years) in the nuclear or chemical process industry and possess a working knowledge of NEC, IES, NFPA, IEEE, and OSHA requirements Candidate must have experience using software (preferably ETAP) to generate electrical system calculations. Candidate must be able to perform weekly field walk downs of the job site for the engineering work being performed. These walk downs may involve construction sites with uneven surfaces and work in progress, walking for distances of over half a mile, climbing of ladders to access remote areas, dressing out in protective clothing and environments where a respirator is required. Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Clearance. US Citizen Desired Qualifications Proficient in using MicroStation 2D Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) software is preferred. POSITION DESCRIPTION The Principal Engineer will provide fire protection technical support for the SRS Fire Protection Program and operating facilities on site. Work at the direction of a Technical Lead Engineer and/or Fire Protection Engineering Manager. The duties will include: Work as a Principal Fire Protection Engineer (FPE) with demonstrated FPE subject matter expertise with industrial and nuclear Fire Protection suppression, alarm and detection requirements. Provide technical direction and guidance in the development and implementation of the Fire Protection Program. As assigned, prepare building and project fire hazards analysis (FHA) for specific buildings and/or projects. Develop and effectively utilize sound engineering principles and capabilities in the conduct of appropriate fire modeling, fire water and fire flow calculations. Evaluate and develop cost-effective, safe alternative solutions and approaches in problem solving field issues in order to maintain compliance with codes and requirements consistent with safe practices and operations. Develop and implement effective fire protection designs for compliance with fire codes, standards, and regulations with an emphasis on Performance Based Design approaches. Provide technical support/guidance to facility management and staff on all fire protection related issues including but not limited to installation, inspection, maintenance, and operations of fire protection systems and components. Conduct facility evaluations/assessments for compliance with procedures and fire protection codes and standards, identify deficiencies, recommend corrective actions and provide the necessary technical support to resolve issues. Evaluate alternate means and methods for achieving code compliance. Assist in the identification of consistent fire system inspection and testing program requirements that satisfy the intent of the National Fire Codes, S/RID and DOE requirements. Develop and maintain a working knowledge and understanding of SRNS 2Q “Fire Protection Program Manual”. Have a strong working knowledge of National Fire Protection Association Codes and Standards, IBC regulatory requirements, and DOE Orders (e.g. 420 series and DOE-STD-1066-2012) as well as experience. A strong understanding of Fire Protection project requirements in DOE Orders is preferred. Candidate must be capable of becoming SRS Radiological Worker qualified to remain in this position. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Graduate of an accredited fire protection engineering or similar engineering curriculum. Minimum of 10 years of experience in Fire Protection Engineering. Candidate must demonstrate familiarity with DOE Orders/Guides and requirements with regards to fire safety as well has knowledge of NFPA codes and standards. Candidate shall have experience on DOE projects. Able to produce written documents with clearly organized structure and grammar with the ability to operate Windows Microsoft Office applications. Candidate shall be able to communicate orally with management, facility personnel, and DOE customers regarding fire protection issues and be able to perform walk down of systems in the field. POSITION DESCRIPTION The Principal Engineer will be expected to perform Supply Chain Management functions at a top professional level. The successful candidate will be able to manage and plan with the following functional areas: Acquisition Services and Inventory, Site Construction Material Schedules, Supplier Manufacturing, Warehouse Operations, Technical Services and Project Management. The role of the Principal Engineer is to ensure Glovebox manufacturing at optimum capacity to achieve excellent customer service at the Savannah River Site. The Procurement Engineer is responsible for: Taking actions to ensure safety, security, and disciplined execution of Glovebox work are top priorities. Obtain safety training, make safety an integral part of work. Managing work in a manner that helps to drive quality (compliance/standardization), speed (cycle time), and efficiency (process improvements) to ensure all Gloveboxes are delivered on-time meeting all requirements. Ensuring Glovebox excellence, deliver results (be accountable to customers/meet objectives and targets), energize and recognize teams (build strong talent/recognize outstanding efforts), and build relationships (communicate transparently/provide excellent customer service). Actively participate in SCM’s processes to ensure all Glovebox stakeholders are engaged and provide needed data for Glovebox manufacturing success. Identify and implement Glovebox Value Stream continuous improvements. Performing cross functional senior program level coordination to help facilitate effective Glovebox operations. This coordination may include warehouse, property, purchasing, quality, Glovebox manufacturers, etc. The SCM Procurement Engineer will have periodic management oversight of assigned projects for each Glovebox type. This person will provide overall Glovebox leadership to ensure company goals are met. Obtain/Maintain proficiency on company designated systems/applications for managing Glovebox work. Provide feedback to SCM managers in quarterly Glovebox performance reviews and/or as needed to ensure issues are addressed timely. Perform other duties as assigned. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Bachelor’s/master’s degree in SCM, Engineering, Quality, Project Management, or related field or in lieu of education, 10-15 years’ experience in related field MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Ability to coordinate, interface and communicate with management, engineering, facility, operations, quality assurance, Glovebox Manufacturers, and test personnel. Ability to effectively work in partnership with peers, Design Authority Engineers, Procurement, Quality Assurance, Glovebox Manufacturers, and Test organizations Experience with computers and software to support Glovebox duties: Word, Excel, Power Point, and other software and tools as needed to ensure Gloveboxes are purchased, manufactured, and delivered on-time Candidate must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance US Citizen DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience implementing process improvements, supplier management experience, and experience working with cross-functional teams Ability to analyze complex operations, identify solutions and implement/track projects to successful closure including good organizational skills. Proficiency, experience, and knowledge with procurement acquisition processes and project management LEAN/Six Sigma certification with experience planning and implementing LEAN/Sigma process improvement projects for Gloveboxes.
