We are circulating a citizen-led petition in the City of Dallas to amend the Dallas City Charter. In order to get this petition on the November 2024 ballot, we need to gather an additional 8,000 signatures by 6/6/2024. This job will require you to walk around public places in the City daily, approach Dallas residents, inform them of the petition, and attempt to gather their signatures.
Requirements:
Must be a US citizen.
Must be able to work evenings and weekends.
Among our proposed amendments are:
- Increasing city leader accountability (We propose a charter amendment that directly ties the city manager’s performance compensation to the assessment of Dallas’ citizens on key areas of their quality of life. Those categories are: crime, cleanliness, panhandling, homelessness, and street repair/road conditions.)
- Increasing public safety (We propose a charter amendment that increases the total number of sworn police officers of the Dallas Police Department from approximately 3,000 to at least 4,000)
- Greater police protection (We propose a charter amendment that eliminates the use of chokeholds)
