Program Assistant; Part-Time- 10 hrs/week $20/hr
Main Function:
The Assistant is expected to collaborate with the Caregiver Respite Director and use his/her gifts, education, and experiences to assist volunteers and families living with dementia.
Qualifications:
-Maintain a positive attitude while working as a member/leader of teams
-Be able to multi-task, show initiative, and utilize strong organizational and administrative skill when needed to support the Director
-Be able to adapt to the changing needs and preferences of participants, while adhering to regulations, procedures, and policies
-Educate and support first time families and assist with new participant paperwork
-Ability to provide helpful and timely information to families on how the participant did while at respite care
-Demonstrate understanding, patience, and compassion in working with adults with memory impairment
-Be able to prioritize work and meet deadlines
-Be familiar with Microsoft Office and ability to learn other software
-Be able to maintain confidentiality
-Be CPR Certified
-Pass a criminal background check
Preferred Qualifications:
-Prior experience working as an activity coordinator
-Prior experience working with individuals with memory impairment
Principal Duties:
-Support Director in planning for the daily, weekly, and monthly program
-Lead activities and equip volunteers to take an active role in activities as needed
-Maintain a calendar of activities, keeping records of attendance, participation and participant feedback
-When time allows, assist in recruiting and training volunteers, shopping for supplies and other administrative tasks
-Become familiar with and follow all Respite policies and procedures
-Assist in maintaining a safe and secure environment for the program
-In absence of Director, assume the duties of Director for safe operation of the program
-Work 9:00-3:00 Wednesdays in addition to other hours outside of program time
