One or two skilled concrete laborers are needed to help with pouring / forming a 30'x33' by 4.5-inch-thick concrete slab (steel mesh reinforced) in my backyard. Slab will be used for basketball court and place for grandkids to play. This is replacing the old pad I put in myself about 37 years ago that was now in bad shape. The plan is for this effort to be performed in two concrete pours a week a part on Saturdays in later part of May 2024. Each pour will be about 7 yards of concrete.
A pre-visit to the pour site a week before the first pour to discuss pour grid design and placement of expansion joints would be awesome if that is possible - want to make sure the pour grid design makes sense before finalizing and installing steel mesh for the first pour. Or I can just send my design.
Owner will have 3-4 helpers with some limited experience in concrete flat work. What is needed is one or two skilled concrete workers to help give guidance to us less skilled helpers and perhaps make the critical screed expansion joints about every 10ft in the 8 ft wide grid. Owner pretty much has all tools needed including a big bull float with extensions, large finishing float, trowels, edgers etc. Pad will be formed up and ready to go. Long 2x4s for screeding will be ready to go.
