The Role of Operations Director at Interfaith Coalition

The Operations Director plays a crucial leadership role within Interfaith Coalition, being responsible for the development, implementation, and oversight of new programming at the organization. The Operations Director works closely with various stakeholders, including coworkers, partner agencies, representatives from congregations, and volunteers to ensure effective delivery of IFC programs. This role requires a deep understanding of the social services landscape in Whatcom County and a keen awareness of the issues impacting local communities. By overseeing this program, the Operations Director plays a critical role in addressing community needs and promoting social equity within the region.

Responsibilities

Program Planning, Implementation and Operation:

Work with existing program implementation subcommittee to develop IFC Mobile Community Services Program, including site selection, partner recruitment and operating strategy in line with the organization’s mission and goals.

Effectively manage the financial and personnel resources of IFC programs, including staffing, equipment, transportation, storage and supplies, to ensure smooth operation and achievement of objectives. Identify potential cost savings, waste-reduction strategies, and ensure that resources are utilized efficiently.

Oversee program logistics, scheduling routes and placement of service vehicles, coordinate vehicle maintenance, and ensuring adequate supplies are available at all times.

Develop and maintain relationships with community partners, government agencies, and other stakeholders to coordinate better service to specific populations or communities.

Oversee the collection and analysis of data related to program activities, outcomes, and impact.

Identify potential risks to the program's success and develop strategies to mitigate them.

Ensure the program operates in compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and funding requirements.

Subcontractor Management and Real Estate Oversight:

Oversee the negotiation, execution, and enforcement of lease agreements with nonprofit subcontractors leasing real estate for housing programs and conduct periodic monitoring of lease terms and property condition.

Coordinate maintenance and repair efforts for leased properties, addressing issues promptly to maintain safety and habitability standards.

Identify and mitigate risks associated with property leasing, including liability issues, property damage, and regulatory violations.

Foster open communication and collaboration between IFC and subcontractors to ensure alignment with organizational goals and objectives. Address potential conflicts promptly and thoroughly.

Board and Leadership:

Collaborate with Executive Director and community stakeholders in ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of programs and delivery of services. When necessary, make recommendations for program and policy changes.

Provide monthly reports to Interfaith Coalition Board of Directors.

Work with Executive Director and Board of Directors in a long-term strategic vision for the organization.

Conduct community outreach including presentations to congregations, service clubs and other organizations.

Qualifications, Experience and Values

● At least 3 years of experience as a Program Director or related role in a nonprofit social services setting.

● Knowledge and experience supporting families and individuals facing homelessness and/or extreme poverty within a trauma-informed framework.

● Understanding and experience working productively with others from a multitude of backgrounds, including IFC Board, staff, volunteers, member congregations and community partners.

● Alignment with IFC Mission, Vision and Values, and a demonstrated commitment to social justice, anti-oppression and advancing equity in decision-making processes.

● Proficiency in all Microsoft Office products, and willingness to learn other programs and databases.

Reports To: Executive Director

Classification: Full time (40 hours per week), Non-Exempt. M-F, with occasional weekend work as needed.

Location: In-person at IFC Bellingham office and on-site work at program point of delivery. Hybrid work schedule available after probationary period has passed.

Pay: This is an hourly non-exempt 1.0 FTE position.

Anticipated starting hourly rate: $32-35/hr
