Description We are offering a role for an Accounting Assistant in the vibrant location of Scarborough, Maine. The role is part of our dedicated team within the finance industry, providing an opportunity to work in a dynamic workplace. This opportunity is a contract employment opportunity.Responsibilities: Handle accounts payable by processing, verifying, and reconciling vendor invoices and expense reports. Manage vendor payments by monitoring, scheduling, preparing checks, and resolving any discrepancies in invoices or payments. Ensure processed work is reconciled by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances. Verify vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions. Maintain student ledgers with meticulous attention to detail. Post student payments by recording cash, check, electronic, and credit card transactions. Track revenues by verifying and entering transactions from all sources. Resolve collections by examining student payment plans, payment history, and activity related to student payment. Monitor student accounts receivables by tracking, researching and resolving unpaid invoices. Maintain historical records by scanning and filing AP and AR documents. Participate in accounting month and year end process and reporting.Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel Familiarity with Accounting Functions Experience with Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) Knowledge of Billing Functions Experience with Cash Activity Proficiency in Sage Accounting Software Requirements Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting Demonstrated understanding and experience with accounting functions Proven experience in managing accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) Experience with billing functions and cash activity management Proficiency in Sage Accounting Software for streamlined financial processes Ability to perform tasks under minimal supervision Excellent verbal and written communication skills for clear and concise reporting Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field is preferred Prior experience in a similar role is a plus.
