The Neuro-Surgical ICU is a 17 bed adult in-patient unit caring for critically ill Neurological patients. Our patients have diagnosis of stroke, head or spinal cord trauma and brain hemorrhage. These patients require a staff specialized in intra-cranial and hemo-dynamic monitoring along with the use of vaso-active medications. In this rewarding and exciting specialty, our team is highly motivated and has advanced critical thinking skills. Job Summary In Critical Care, our Registered Nurses (RNs) are highly skilled and trained; helping to provide expertise at the bedside and the highest quality care in the most compassionate way. The units heavily rely on a team-based mentality in which all healthcare team members work congruently to achieve the best outcomes based on the Hartford Healthcare values of Safety, Excellence, Integrity and Caring. Current Connecticut Registered Nurse (RN) License. Graduate of an accredited nursing school (BSN Required). BLS certification by the American Heart Association and proof of Arrhythmia Certification required prior to date of hire. Minimum one year Acute Care RN experience strongly preferred. In exceptional circumstances, experienced ASN/ADN nurses currently in pursuit of a BSN or MSN may be considered. Job Summary Our Nurses work in collaborative environments with strong interdisciplinary teams, focused on a patient centered care model in a richly diverse work space. The registered nurse who through knowledge and ability uses the nursing process to develop a plan of care which includes standards of practice to meet the physical, emotional spiritual, cultural and educational needs of the patient and family. North 11 is a surgical unit with private rooms, is comprised of Neurosurgical and Trauma patients. There is room for growth and development, as nurses are eventually cross trained into the Center 11 an epilepsy unit. The nurses on North 11 are also Stroke Certified. Current Connecticut RN License. Job Summary: Assists with the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician. Responsibilities: Assists with treatments ordered by physician as supervised by physician or registered nurse. Performs select clinical duties. Interviews patients, measures vital signs, and records information on patients\' charts. Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients. Performs basic clerical duties including answering the phone, maintaining records, and filing. Performs basic materials management functions to include ordering and stocking of supplies. Assists with maintaining a clean and orderly environment. Responsible for performing such duties as phlebotomy, patient scheduling, EKG\'s, collection of specimens, taking vital signs and assisting physicians or other providers under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse. Assists with clerical functions to facilitate departmental operations including answering phone and scheduling patients and processing orders. Responsible for maintenance of supplies, equipment, stocking exam rooms and monitoring environment. Other Duties as assigned // Licensure / Certification / Registration: Required Credential(s): One or more of the following: Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date. Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Red Cross obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date. Preferred Credential(s): Certified Medical Assistant. Will consider graduate of Medical Assistantprogram or similar type program such as Multi-Skilled Assistant in lieu ofCertified Medical Assistant Education: Completion of Medical Assistant program preferred. Work Experience: 1 year experience as Medical Assistant preferred. Epic Experience preferred. Must possess effective communication skills. Competency in basic medical assisting skills. Including, rooming patients, assisting provider with exams, performing hearing tests, answering phones, scheduling appointments and surgeries. Strong working knowledge of medical terminology. Strong computer skills including solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office software. Experience with medical software preferred. Positive, customer-focused approach, with commitment to providing excellent patient care. Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Position Description The Physical Therapist (PT) administers medically prescribed Physical Therapy treatments to patients. The Physical Therapist (PT) independently evaluates patient’s level of function, determines treatment strategies, and delivers and/or delegates Physical Therapy services that identify, prevent, remediate, and rehabilitate acute or prolonged physical dysfunction or pain. This role encompasses evaluation skills and techniques, analysis of patients, and therapeutic application of physical and chemical agents, prescription of exercise and other procedures to maximize the patient\'s functional independence. Responsibilities · Upon Physician referral, the Physical Therapist (PT) performs thorough examination and evaluation of patient’s level of function, including evaluations for strength, movement, motor control, joint mobility, soft tissue integrity, pain, balance, coordination, posture, cardiopulmonary function by assessing and monitoring vitals, endurance, gait and functional abilities in activities of daily living · Establishes measurable goals with the patient/family based on appropriate patient care protocols and critical paths in order to meet patient needs. · Implements, delivers and delegates patient care by utilizing appropriate interventions and clinical decision making including but not limited to modalities such as heat, cold, light, water, sound, electricity, mobilization and therapeutic exercise. · Provides patient and caregiver education regarding treatment, precautions, and equipment use · Participates in patient transition planning and/or patient discharge planning including recommendations to community resources to meet patient needs throughout the continuum of care. Help to coordinate patient care with other care providers such as Rehab Therapists, Nurses, Social Workers, and other community resources as related to care transition planning. · Delegates patient care tasks and provide clinical supervision for Physical Therapist students, Rehabilitation Aides and Physical Therapist Assistants. Qualifications Physical Therapy / Acute Care experience highly preferred. Bachelors, Masters or Doctoral Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).
