Your primary focus will be to create and implement individualized therapeutic plans, utilizing a variety of art-based activities to promote emotional healing and personal growth among patients spanning diverse age groups. In addition to leading therapeutic sessions, you will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to integrate art therapy into holistic patient care plans, actively participating in patient conferences and providing valuable insights on patient progress. Your responsibilities will extend to program management, including planning, organizing, and evaluating therapeutic recreation activities to ensure they align with therapeutic objectives and comply with regulatory standards. Moreover, you will serve as a mentor, providing training to support staff and overseeing specialized programs such as the Pet Therapy/Visitation Program. Join us in making a profound difference in the lives of those we serve, where your passion for art and compassionate care converge to inspire healing journeys. /Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):/ · Perform comprehensive Therapeutic Recreation Assessments and develop personalized patient care plans. · Implement a diverse range of therapeutic recreation activities, tailored to meet individual patient needs and therapeutic goals. · Direct and oversee therapeutic programs, ensuring alignment with therapeutic objectives and regulatory standards. · Plan, organize, and evaluate therapeutic recreation activities to foster positive social skills and emotional well-being among patients. · Provide motivation and counseling to encourage patient participation in therapeutic recreation activities, including assistance with activity transportation. · Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate art therapy into holistic patient care plans and contribute insights on patient progress. · Maintain accurate documentation, including Electronic Medical Records, to track patient participation and progress. · Facilitate staff training and oversee specialized programs such as the Pet Therapy/Visitation Program. · Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal laws, including Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations. · Pursue ongoing professional development and maintain professional certifications to uphold high standards of practice in art therapy and therapeutic recreation. /Required Qualifications:/ · Ability to develop program curriculum for Therapeutic Recreation Services. · Ability to design and implement programs in conjunction with the members of therapeutic teams, such as, Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, Speech Therapist, Nutrition, Arts Therapist. · Ability to supervise, including planning and assigning work according to the nature of the job to be accomplished, the capabilities of subordinates and available resources, and motivating subordinates to work effectively. · Knowledge of the principles and techniques of Therapeutic Recreation and ability to read, interpret and apply principles of health and safety relevant to Therapeutic Recreation Activity space. · Knowledge of performing assessments, setting goals, and documenting progress, and the types and uses of materials and equipment used in Therapeutic Recreation activities. · Knowledge of Therapeutic Recreation counseling methods and techniques, as well as human anatomy and physiology as applied to Therapeutic Recreation. · Ability to maintain accurate records and prepare general reports. · Ability to establish rapport with persons from different ethnic, cultural and/or economic backgrounds. · Excellent communication skills including leading presentations. · Ability to maintain a calm manner in stressful and/or emergency situations. /DPH Mission Statement:/ The mission of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) is to prevent illness, injury, and premature death, to assure access to high-quality public health and health care services, and to promote wellness and health equity for all people in the Commonwealth. Minimum Entrance Requirements: Applicants must have at least (A) four years of full-time, or equivalent part-time technical or professional experience in planning, organizing, instituting or conducting therapeutic services in a recognized public or private agency, and (B) of which at least two years must have been in a professional capacity, and (C) of which at least one year must have been in a supervisory capacity, or (D) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below. Substitutions: I. A Bachelor\'s degree with a major in recreation, recreation education, creative arts therapy or therapeutic recreation may be substituted for two years of the required (A) experience. II. A Master\'s or higher degree with a major in recreation, recreation education, creative arts therapy or therapeutic recreation may be substituted for three years of the required (A) experience and one year of the required (B) experience. Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed. NOTE: Substitutions will only be permitted for a maximum of one year of the required (B) experience. No substitutions will be permitted for the required (C) experience. Special Requirements: Based on assignment, possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Class D Motor Vehicle Operator\'s license.
